This book is a flood of emotions waiting to be unleashed. Hope, fear, resignation, love, resilience, and a quiet strength weaves this story together, and by the end I wasn't sure if I needed to laugh or cry. Hug or be hugged. I mostly sat in stunned silence to be honest. As a female engineer there were so many aspects of this book that resonated deeply with my experience. As a human being there were so many aspects that shook me to the core. It's surreal, reading this and being able to look back at history as we know it and experience it through the lens of history as it's being written today. I highly recommend reading it.

An interesting book. It offered some good perspectives on the prejudice faced by Jews during the Second World War era. It was slow moving, and while the mystery in it was more or less compelling, I just wasn't super impressed. See spoilers for further reasoning.
It was mildly disappointing to pick up a book described as "based on a true story" to find out that the main characters were completely fictional. The idea was taken from the life of a historical figure, but completely fictionalized. So the inspiration was very slight. I found the description misleading.
