I think children will enjoy the story without being familiar with the history of Germany. From the propaganda to the mindset, I was reminded of so many aspects of WWII. If one could get the children to read the whole series, it would be a great way of teaching how easy it was for the Nazi party to rule in Germany. I think the allusions were well done and would obvious to those familiar with history, but the general story was good for everyone, sort of like a Disney movie, where there is something for adults and children.
