Interesting, with some serious red flags that would have any sane person running in another direction. I really enjoyed Cole's perspective though, and think this was definitely an interesting read.

OMG!! Well this is a new trope I love. I was very iffy going into this book. I’m just now branching into dark romances and this being a serial killer romance is definitely a big jump into dark. But Sophie just has a way with words that just makes it so easy to fall in love with these characters.

Here we ae following Cole who is a well known artist in San Francisco who is always competing up against Shaw in more ways than just art. They are both killers. Cole who is much more controlled than the Shaw. Shaw loves to display his kills in a very news worthy way. But when they both set their sights on Mara, Cole may lose all that control.

I flew through this and just could not put it down. I was so upset when I finished it at 11:30pm and realized since I had to go to work I could immediately start book 2.

I read the whole thing but I had to push my way through it. I had DNR’d so many books in the last few weeks I just had to see something through. This was not it. Was it a little hot? Yes. But it was more creepy than anything.

Saw someone on tiktok recommend it as serial killer smut and I was not disappointed. But I was definitely not prepared for what happened to Mara.
omg I don't know how she survived cause how do u have that much will to live if not for revenge. I thought she would survive and then seek revenge but no she literally was fine not getting even. Espionage after the cops don't believe her and shit wow I would be so full on anger and resentment. The main reason I kept reading was for Mara I don't like anyone else in the book. She the reason it's 2 stars. Except at the end when she gave in to Cole completely and let him fuck her repeatedly. That' was trash. The on thing I really liked ab their relationship was that even thought Cole had all the power Mara would put him in his place. That tattoo scene was interesting bc they both got tattooed. I would have liked the fucking scene at the end if there was a back and forth. Her having control and then him. When Cole gives up control it feels like he's not a serial killer. He also stalked her and did disgusting things to her without her knowledge. He took joy in watching her feel violated and unsafe. I wish the author would flip the script more. Alsooo I didn't like the rushed killing of Mara's friend. It felt so out of place. Idk I have so many more thoughts but I'll add it later.
I felt nauseous many times ready this book but I guess that's what the author wanted me to feel. Be prepared and look at the trigger warnings!
