I almost DNFed this 3 times, but it was such a short book I decided to just push through. The Playlist at the beginning was a cute idea, but I felt it didn't flow with the writing of the book. I didn't like either of the main characters and felt like Maras actions made no sense considering what happened in the beginning of the book? Cole seems like he doesn't know what he wants. I definitely won't be reading the second part.

Mara is a hard working art student. There is a serial killer who is killing woman in the Bay Area. Mara gets abducted and tortured. The killer leaves her body to taunt another killer Cole. He liked control and won’t fall to someone else’s agenda. Mara sees Cole and when she realizes he won’t help her she fights to save her selves. Mara returns to her “normal” life after her trauma. Cole becomes obsessed with her.

Dark, so so so dark. I think the relationship between the love interests has been developed very well.  What the story really lacks is the background to build the relationship between the two duelling San Francisco serial killers.  As much as the leading man rejects the other San Fran serial killer their story is as central to the plot as the smutty romance, and that aspect of this story is seriously underdeveloped. I am desperately hoping the second book builds both that story and the romance.
