A lovely and sad tale about good deeds, loss, and summer friendships.

Not sure what exactly to say about this one... quick read. Reminiscent of Winn Dixie. Loved the rancheros especially Louisiana. As an audiobook the reader was fantastic.

Everything Kate DiCamillo writes is in my language. This book was delightful.

This is sweet and sorrowful at the same time, but ultimately the main characters remain hopeful and are able to experience joy through their hurt. I love Kate's take on life.

I read this one with my 11 year old daughter. We've read all of DiCamillo's books. This one bears some similarity to Because of Winn-Dixie, which is my favorite one. Between 3-4 stars.

This book is very good and depressing because it exactly recreated what it's like to be a kid, to be confused and scared and helpless in a world that can't give you what you need. I don't think I could handle reading it again.

Another excellent book by DiCamillo. Wonderful story of three girls friendship in the face of hardship.

I don't get how anyone finds this a 'sweet' book. Don't get me wrong - it's amazing, but it's dark and bitter and existential and bleak. Poetic and despairing- it's a voice I haven't read before in children's lit. Wow.
