If you want to enjoy these books you have to get over the soulmate principle. I remember, reading these books as an early teen, feeling awed and hopeful and utterly fascinated by it and the concept of falling in love, just like most teenagers. As adults, sure, we roll our eyes, but let's not forget how fun it was to feel like something like this was so real and tangible and possible.

That being said, this is another story of a teen finding her soulmate and going through a minor ordeal and having to break ALL the laws of the Night World in order to save/be with their forbidden human soulmate. I'm expecting (and sorta kinda remembering) that this will eventually lead to some kind of revolution where these laws are no longer valid because if something doesn't change, a lot of moon-eyed teenagers are about to be executed.

This is the first book of the series to focus on witches. We met Thea and Blaise briefly when Poppy and James (Secret Vampire, #1) stopped in Las Vegas. I'm really looking forward to seeing them again, and many other witches.

Like in the other two books, I was surprised at the serious of some of what went down. Blaise is kind of out of her mind. I was impressed by her pride and her bravery at the end, but the way she toyed with people was some Nancy-from-The-Craft kind of shit.

It was quick, it was mostly cute, it was a teenage paranormal romance!

The books in this series are just my guilty pleasure and I love reading them.

Sisterhood vibes. Even though Blaise is technically the "antagonist", she is still a good sister to Thea and I like that about this book. We see her doing a lot that is technically evil, while she is still a good sister when it counts.

Also wow at the references to the Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts and how differently they are treated in the groups. Roz would be happy with the current state of affairs for them.

I hope that the next set of books starts tying all these characters together!

Predictable but still part of my favorite series. Easy reads for when I'm in a slump.

Tortuous

Hard work. Poor plot and characters made it difficult to engage with. Still I persisted in vain, gave up at about 60% probably because I am. Stubborn and the other book I am reading is intellectually challenging and this was a break. Time wasted.

It was okay, I would've loved to see a couple chapters from Blaise' s POV but I thought the plot of this book was better than the previous night world stories. I really enjoyed the contrast between good and bad, white and black, Thea and Blaise. I think these books would be really good for an eleven or twelve year old maybe just starting to get into paranormal fiction or young adult.

Okay so this book was good, but I didn’t get sucked into it like the others in this series. The first two books I couldn’t put down, I loved everything about them and expected to feel the same about this one. To me it just fell flat. I wasn’t that into Thea and Eric’s relationship. Blaise was just so annoying and attention seeking. And it took awhile for the story to pick up and have me guessing what’s going to happen next. Though the ending was good. It became more dramatic and I was flipping through the pages like crazy.

Un pochino meglio, almeno qui la storia d'amore tra Thea ed Eric ha una base leggermente piu' credibile. Il fatto che i personaggi principali siano solo tre (certo sempre circondarti da mille personaggi buonisolo a far numero)sembra giovare e dare un'impostazione un po' piu' credibile alla storia.
Certo, leggere questo dopo aver letto l'altra serie sulla steghe della Smith e' un po'ridicolo, perche' alcune cose che succedono in questo libro sono identiche a quello che poi accade nell'altra serie. Che mirabile fantasia!
La scena finale pero' si salva, e' stato inaspettato.
Ah, dimenticavo, Thea e Blaise sono cugine di Ash.
Ash e' come il prezzemolo, spunta dappertutto!
