Cousins who are at odds over the same boy... okay.
Family is tough, and doing what you think is best can sometimes backfire.
Blaise has her reasons, but I feel like she's headed in the wrong direction. Thea listens to herself, but what if it isn't enough? I don't like the way this one is left hanging; it kept me wanting more.

This series is too juvenile for my taste. The stories are all the same...Nigh Worlder falls in love with a human (oh no!), surely they will be killed if anyone finds out. People find out. They don't die.

MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!
EXPECTATIONS: If there are witches in the book I am already happy.
THE WORLD: Pretty much same as in previous books of the series. Except that this time we get to read about witches instead of vampires and werewolves, yay!
CHARACTERS: So I think there are two main characters in this book: Blase and Thea. They are like sisters yet again expelt from another school because of Blase's use of black magic. But this time they have to behave and so when Blase desides to bewitch Eric Thea decides she needs to take him instead and prevent Blase from ruining another boy. That's pretty much the main plot of this book. As you probably already got I am not a fan of Blase, frankly she was just a spoiled little brat that needed a good slap. Thea was literary giving up her future just so Blase would not be punished. I really don't get these kind of friendships. Blase was evil period. And I get that L.J. Smith kinda tried to make her good again by the end of the book but nope sorry nothing is gonna justify Blase's behavior. She was just a brat say whatever you want. And Thea...yeah...well for me she was way too boring. A goody goody one that always puts Blase first. I cannot handle such characters, seriously. Anyways then we get the soulmate shit again and I ended up almost throwing the book into the wall.
ROMANCE: #soulmatesmakemewannapuke
GOOD: Witches. Even tho Blase did annoy me to no end I still enjoyed the witchery part. They did many spells and talked about magic as spiritual thing and just yeah...love love love witchcraft.
BAD: I know this series is about soulmates. I know it is the curse that has been going around Night World. But I am still not okay with it. The insta love is killing me.
OVERALL: This was definitely better than previous books mainly because of witchcraft. But in general if you are looking relaxing short read this is definitely a series to go to. And yeah...besides my complains it is really not all that bad :D

I didn't like this book as much as I liked the first two in the series, but I still liked it a lot! I loved how the relationship between Eric and Thea progressed. I didn't understand how Blaise could be so vicious one minute and caring the next. I also didn't understand how Thea could just forgive Blaise for wanting to kill Eric so easily. Plus, I am really starting to get tired of the whole soul mate storyline. Every book L.J. Smith has written so far goes; major problem threatens human -> night worlder can fix problem but only by breaking the laws -> night worlder finds out that they are soul mate with human -> night worlder promptly disregards all laws that they grew up with, putting their life and the human's life in peril -> they get caught -> everybody still lives happily ever after. I just want a new storyline for the 4th book. Is that too much to ask?

I Really Couldn't Fall Into This One. I Loved The Writing Style But The Story Line Was A Little Meh For My Taste. Not Too Bad. On To The Next!

im squealing! this ending made me so happy and eager to read the next part! SOMETHING IS STARTING, BITCHES.
I won't say anything else, except something about Night World as a whole.
If you're thinking about the vampire diaries or the secret circle when you start reading this, you'll soon realize it's not the same at all. You might not like that but you should push on. In fact, if you start reading the books at all when you're older than pre-teen age, you'll need to get through the first book. Suspension of disbelief is important with these books: you need to allow yourself to believe that love at first sight is real, that you can meet someone and see into their soul and just know them and love them all at once.
Honestly, considering these books are about vampires, witches and werewolves, it shouldn't be that hard.
Either you're going to be hooked (this happened for me during book 2) or you'll realize it just isn't for you. I'm definitely hooked.

Spellbinder is on par with book #1 and perhaps even better because Thea is a better heroine and the story tried to be more complex, but ultimately it suffers from underdevelopment of most of its plot lines.
Instead of vampires, this focuses on witches who, oddly, have a bizarre human hatred thing going on despite basically being humans with powers. I don't know. It was executed weirdly because the hatred seemed to be displayed too similar to how vampires think humans are inferior. The hatred is less "they are the enemy who has betrayed us and burned us and oppressed us" and more "they're a different species like worthless ants" like how vampires in this universe view humans as weak prey, so it felt weird. This was one major mark against the book because Thea's prejudice just kind of... goes away. Like Eric is nice and she's like "welp, now I don't hate humans even though it'd be easier for me to do so." Everything is introduced, a minor issue, and then easily solved in the most direct, bland way possible.
Blaise was... evil... but then... not? Like I don't really get it because Blaise definitely did some fucked up things to a lot of boys but because Thea stands up for 1 of them Blaise is like "Okay I'll stop" and like all is forgiven. Sis straight ruined a boy's life for GOOD and she just is still likeable and redeemed and her punishment is going to stay with a watchful aunt to curb her ways? I don't feel like there was any real conflict between the cousins, so I don't know why the blurb wanted to really build that up. Basically Blaise and Thea have a few little skirmishes with magic and then Blaise is like "Okay whatever" and I'm like.... why do all these story threads happen and then just taper off like nothing?
The soulmate thing wasn't as harsh in this book, but it still basically made everything boil down into instalove. The read went by fast and I appreciate that this story is trying to step things up from the last two, but it ultimately is disappointing :/
