Don’t let my 3.5 stars throw you off. This was a pretty darn good novel. Good enough that I’ll read another one of her novels. Loved that she kept this so clean. It was also a cute little love story. I also liked how the characters were torn between ethical and spiritual dichotomy. This was done very well.

Border Patrol Danika Morales' husband was murdered and it's still unsolved. Nobody knows what happened. It's a closed case. But for Danika, she needs the mystery to be solved.
But as Danika starts getting closer to the truth forces conspire against her to keep her in the dark. She quickly learns that this mystery may be bigger than even she imagined.
Somebody in Border Patrol is leaking top-secret information and Danika and her family are at the top of the list.
She turns to local doctor Alex Price--the only one she can think she can trust. A reluctant romance starts and blossoms into something much larger.
But with Danika's life at stake, will they be able to unravel the mystery before one of them ends up dead.
Mills has woven another beautiful story that touches upon the very sensitive issue of immigration. She does so without undermining the seriousness of this concern.
It's a good read. And one that I'd recommend to all who love christian suspense or just romantic suspense in general.

I read the first Call of Duty series earlier and then saw that this one was available for lending through the Kindle lending program, one per month. So I downloaded this one for March and enjoyed it! Have to check and see if the next in this series is also available to lend... I'm enjoying Prime!

Contemporary suspense fiction isn't something I go out of my way to read but I really loved DiAnn Mills' Texas Legacy series so I decided to give her latest release, Sworn to Protect a try and I am so glad I did! Not only was it full of suspense and a hint of romance, it covered a totally new aspect that I have never read about in romance, the United States Border Patrol. I loved that I learned what it takes to be a BP agent and DiAnn Mills made me want to dig deeper to learn what the "real" people do to protect our borders 24/7!
I love stories with tough as nails heroines and Danika Morales definitely fit the bill. While her relationship with Dr. Price wasn't the most flowery, romantic thing I've ever read about it seemed very real and not at all rushed. As for wondering who the "bad guy" was it really didn't take too much for me to figure that out but overall I thought this was a good story and I enjoyed it! I will definitely be reading the other books in this series!

I read this years ago, but it left a distinct impression on me. It was an eye opening look into the life of the brave men and women who protect our borders. I liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter that address the issues of immigration.
