The Mime Order followed much the same pattern as The Bone Season did, and was only marginally more entertaining.
Paige continues to be an interesting character to be in the mind of, the humans continue to be the only interesting thing about this tale, and the world still feels as if it's expansive yet far to small at the same time and described poorly. It feels like a lot of tell not show most of the time.
The romance is background and lackluster and actually quite off putting and I wish it hadn't been included at all.
I had hoped for political manuvering and the gathering of allies across the districts from this book but was sorely disappointed that was not the case. In fact it felt like the whole seperate districts, some people like each other some don't, was a complete waste and horribly under utilised.
The big twist reveal at the end was highly predictable and so obvious it was disappointing.
I will eventually get around to book three, but I am definitely in no rush.
