Interesting story about a wolf-dog who is born in the wild, and then slowly becomes domesticated. I’d have given it five stars but for the factual errors (though to be fair it was written before much research had been done on wild wolves).

Excellent book--a classic for a reason. However, some may find the concepts and language to be very dated.

A very good metaphor for the nature versus nurture debate. The story of how a dog is used and abused by poeple and its personality molded by circumstance while still trying to uphold instincts. The writing is fantastic and reflective. Very quotable. The animals do not, I think, act like animals, but act like our perceptions of animals mixed with anthropomorphizing. Many dead dogs. Some Racism.

Started off really good, slow in the middle, and good at the end.
Many nature scenes are unrealistic and the author’s racism is evident.
