My first read by Miss Claire and I have to say, I am impressed. She creates a lot of drama with a dog shelter and a burned park.
The pace is good. The character chemistry can be improved/ focused more. The banter is cute.
Overall a very enjoyable read.

Crash is the first book in the Crash & Burn duet that is part of the Shaken series. This book is told from dual points of view from Teague and Pepper. Teague is a firefighter and Pepper is lives and works at a gray hound rescue.
Teague and Pepper meet when one of the dogs pees on part of his tire. They banter back and fourth and then don't think they will see each other again. When Teague puts his life at risk to save his friend and fellow firefighter from a fire, he goes back in and rescues a dog that they named Ash. After the dog is checked over, she ends up at the place Pepper works.
Teague goes to check on Ash and as he's there he gets to know Pepper more and they start having feelings for each other. However Teague's father doesn't want this to happen. So he makes it hard for the two.
This book kept me going, and I had to know what happened next. I can't wait to see where book two takes Teague, Pepper, and all those lovely dogs!

It just wasn’t my thing I tried both e-book and audio book and both time I was just unable to get into it. To me it was just boring and the way the older lady at the shelter was always trying to punch the main woman to the man was just annoying to me.

Wow. I knew this book was a cliffhanger before I started reading but this twisty read was similar to the ones Kennedy Fox writes.
I loved to see the characters from the Paths to Love series in this new world. Now they just need Patrick from Defend Me then Teague and Pepper will be set.

2.5! This book was a disappointment. I felt no chemistry between the characters.

Even when I know a book is going to end in a cliffhanger I'm never ready for it and this cliffhanger was a massive one.
I loved how much of this story focused on saving those who are lost. Between the foster dogs and Pepper, the storylines of helping people and dogs was strong throughout this entire book. Teague is a firefighter who is fighting his father to stay in the career he loves and the tension between him and his father is strong. However, I loved his scenes with his brother and sister, they are a strong and amazing family unit. I loved the scenes where they were all together!
Pepper and Teague deserve a happily ever after so badly. You can feel the sexual tension radiating from them and their desire to be with each other platonically and non-platonically. I can't wait to read the rest of their story in the next book!

I don't think I've read books Grahame Claire solely written before this one. So this duet is pretty welcomed. Teague and Pepper's story is so much more than I expected. It's definitely a slow burn filled with so many emotions. This is a great read and I can't wait for the continuation of their story because that cliffhanger just left me anxious.
