I read this aloud with my kids and while they really loved it, I wasn't a fan of the writing. I did appreciate that my kids could become familiar with the story in a simplified way and the art was cool. If I hadn't read it with my kids, I probably would have rated it lower.

2024 reread: I read this aloud with my kids (9, 7, and 5). I enjoyed it a lot more this time around (I definitely think that the poor audio quality affected my experience the first time around).

My kids liked it, but they did not like how many people die (there are a lot of deaths, especially at the end) and also couldn't really understand why the pirates are marooned at the end. They are really excited to watch both Treasure Planet and Muppets Treasure Island though

DNF on page 31 it was like watching paint dry. Thankfully it was a book I needed to read for school because I would've probably SparkNotes it.

A true neutral. For a story I love so much, I found the old writing and language difficult.

During most of the book I was picturing the cast from Treasure Planet. It was easy considering everyone's names. I enjoyed it well enough but that is what really sold it in my head.

Finally finished this book, It was damn long time, but as it was a classic I couldn't grasp it as other books, but the story was worth reading.
After I had seen mysterious island movie, I always wanted to read Treasure Island and I did it finally.
There were some places where I couldn't understand the way of speaking and after continuing later it would hit me what it meant because of the story, I would give it 4.5 for the story.
Don't be fooled by the number of pages in this book, The writing is cramped up very neatly and it feels longer to finish a page than I normally did.

THE quintessential pirate story. Always a fun read!

Maybe I'm a little crazy but this book did not do it for me at all.

I think my sixth-grade class was assigned this book, and within days, every single girl in the class was whining about how much we hated it. Every single one of us. The teacher relented and let us read something else (I don't remember what), but all the boys loved it.

I've just started watching Black Sails, which is a prequel of sorts to this book, so I decided to give it another shot. So far, so good. (I'm on p. 32 of 161.)
