I ended up quite liking this one! Though, i DO wish i had read it 1. as a kid and 2. before having literally watched Pirates of the Caribbean 500 times because wow I see where Disney got their story from, but i also know POTC like the back of my hand which made this book a little bit boring. If you like pirates though or know a kid who likes pirates, definitely a good one!

I read this book back in middle school, I believe. It rocked my world! Still so good.

For a book that influenced the depiction of pirates in popular culture, we don't get very much on the pirates themselves. I was expecting more on Long John Silver for how famous he is, and was a little disappointed he's only prominently featured in a handful of chapters. It was a fairly easy read, though — with the exception of when the author throws in various sailing terminology with zero explanation — so I appreciated that.

This is my first time reading this book. As an adult, I have to say this book was aimed more towards children, but it was enjoyable none the less! The character development really stands out and is reason enough for this to be the classic it has become. Nearly every stereotype we associate with pirates today comes from this book from "pieces of eight" to their obsession with rum. It was really interesting to read this keeping that in mind. This is a great adventure story that readers of all ages would enjoy!

A classic tale of adventure among "gentlemen of fortune" on the high seas. I have been meaning to finally read this ever since watching (and enjoying) the series "Black Sails." An enjoyable, fairly quick read.

The narrative loses its fervour as the end comes near and delivers a very mild and textbook ending, unlike the beginning which has some explosive elements to it.

A classic I have always loved. Just finished re-reading it. This booksets the template for every pirate book, movie or comic you''ve ever read. A smashing fun read.
