Part of me keeps thinking, I wish I had started listening to this earlier! Another part thinks that this is exactly the right time. I love it.

I've been meaning to read this for a good while now because I love the podcast so much. This book is basically a transcript of the podcast. What made it cool was the commentary before each chapter/episode from Joseph about what inspired each episode. If you like Nightvale I definitely recommend this one!

This is just the greatest. It has been ages since I've first heard this first episodes and to read them and experience them all over again is just amazing. I love Night Vale!

Long time listener, first time reader, but I must say, these brilliantly weird stories are just as great in your head as they are in your ears (I couldn't help but imagine it all in Cecil's voice anyways). And the behind-the-scenes intros gave life to the world in a new way. As always, I give Night Vale 5/5 stars, plus my heart, soul, lungs, and all the squishy bits in between.

What I would have given, almost ten years ago, to have had this book with me. Welcome to Night Vale has been a part of my life for so long it feels weird to think of it just as a podcast. It helped me so much with my English, it's forever linked, for me, to that unbreakable Sony Mp3 player, summer nights and floating in my pool with the sound full on, getting only half of what Cecil was saying and not caring anyway.
It improved my English comprehension way beyond anything in school ever did and I have loved and enjoyed reading the book alongside Cecil's voice and experiencing it all from the very beginning.

Perfect adaptation of one of my favorite podcasts. I really love that there was creator commentary before each episode. I was able to listen to the podcast as an audiobook and it worked wonderfully.

I have fallen in love with Night Vale.

This is ...both a very good book and a very pointless book and I don't really know how to handle that. I mean obviously I love Night Vale but there just isn't really enough new content here to justify it being a whole book I think. There is an illustration with every episode but they honestly aren't that amazing most of the time, and there is also an introduction but they are really too short for my taste and ultimately not that interesting. Some of the things about the way the podcast started did surprise me, but I wanted much more commentary content - maybe even in the style of writing in the margins etc - than I actually got.

I guess you could say well it's neat that all the scripts are in one place and they all have the opening lines and the name of the weather song and the ending proverbs, but also all the scripts are available like that online for free already so it seems like kind of a bit of a money-grab to me. I guess maybe I can't fault them too much for that since they release their product for free in the first place so they have to make money somehow, but I wouldn't recommend reading this instead of listening to the podcast because Cecil has such an amazing voice and I think that is half of what makes the show for me anyway.

I'll probably take a skim through the other ones at some point but I would by no means actual purchase these books for myself. They would need much more cast and creator commentary and also probably some nice full color full page illustrations to get me on board with that.
