This book was a slow read until the end. I just couldn't get into it. As a former magazine editor myself, I related to that part of the book and enjoyed it. Some parts were predictable but otherwise this book was so-so. I like her other books better.

After getting through over half of the book, there's still nothing really happening.

Ok....not great...I'm glad I gave Marian Keyes another chance after this one because some of her other works are excellent.

Really liked this book, it had some great lines in it. A great rollicking read that has well and truely put me off working for a magazine.
Always had a feeling that those two characters in the last chapter would get together from the moment they first met.

I think a more realistic rating would be 3.5 stars. The book hints at all sorts of serious issues, so in some ways it's a bit heavier and darker than traditional chick lit. Those parts were interesting, and I was frustrated that the author didn't go even further. The writing itself is wonderful and the characters are well drawn. The problem is that the book didn't need to be as long as it was for waht the author actually accomplished in the end.

Slightly too wordy for me in some parts and also uses some frantic vocabulary. However, the story line developed well and I liked the relations of the characters throughout and how you see them grow.

meagre bookcrossing comments from 2006:
Read this well over a year ago now. It's light entertaining reading. But not really something I feel that Im going to read again. Set in Dublin, it follows the love lives of young professionals setting up a new Irish fashion magazine. And some of them like eating sushi.

Beige. Some good parts, some bad. Need something to pass time, fine. Anything else, eh.
