Obviously a book about the Great Migration will include hard to discuss topics. This book does not hold back and is very honest.alicianoel126's review against another edition

As a European I found this a very informative read regarding an important movement and period in American history. It also helps to explain much of the current problems and attitudes in American society. I was greatly inspired and moved by the characters and their difficult journeys, even though some parts were (very) hard to read. Would wholeheartedly recommend.laurenleigh's review against another edition
