I had a great time listening to this book! With witty banter, action scenes, & a touch of romance this was a fun & delightful read! The main character Constance is absolutely wonderful to follow! There were a few times she had me laughing out loud! There's a good mix of genres there really is a little bit of something for everyone! I really hope this is going to be a series. I would love to read more about these characters!

You will def want to add this steampunk era novel into your TBR piles. I love when a narrator of an audio book can take me away with their narration and create voices for the characters. I loved Constance and J.F. And I loved Michelle’s voices she did for these characters.

This book has action and humor and dare I say romance? This is a book I can see myself listening to it again, and even grabbing of the physical book. Also there a book 2 coming! Can’t wait to see the story continue!

I found the first half more slower paced and harder to get into, and probably a little longer than necessary, but the second half was a joyous romp through quintessentially English shenanigans which were beautifully observed and entertaining.
We are definitely amused.
You’ll need to relax and just go with the silliness, so if you’re up for that style it’s great fun.
The Prussian polo was a highlight.

This book was such a delightful surprise! If you like steampunk, this is for you. If you like dry humor, this is for you. If you love to laugh out loud while reading, this is for. I loved this British era comedy with a bit of romance so much. The writing was incredible, and it definitely held my attention.

Imaginative, fun, cheeky, and full of adventure! [b:The Brass Queen|48759186|The Brass Queen|Elizabeth Chatsworth|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1598481006l/48759186._SX50_.jpg|74133143] is everything I come to steampunk for. I laughed out loud many times at the little ironies and double meanings hidden within the story. [a:Elizabeth Chatsworth|18410195|Elizabeth Chatsworth|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1536710561p2/18410195.jpg]'s creativity with the technology and mechanical objects is top-notch, I loved the descriptions of her mechanical creatures, weapons, chemicals, and settings. The characters are unique, funny, and engaging, I enjoyed getting to know all of them and hope to follow their adventures in future books. No beating around the bush here. I need more books from this world! I was thrilled when I saw it announced that there will, at the very least, be 2 books in this series.

As a huge fan of steampunk, I am always on the lookout for books that have this element but I very rarely find books that do it well. The Brass Queen managed to bring in the steampunk atmosphere brilliantly though! There is even an added element of a multiverse which I found utterly unique in this type of story.

Constance is a great character who is quick thinking and unabashedly self-sufficient. Her interactions with Trusdale are wonderful and I could not get enough of their scenes together. My only gripe with her side of the story is that we don’t get enough of her being an inventor. It is more alluded to or considered an afterthought for the convenience of a couple of plot points but I never really felt like she was the head of a huge underground operation.

Trusdale was so much fun to follow and I really enjoyed his POVs. Throwing a cowboy in with the British aristocracy was a treat to read. I will say that the synopsis didn’t quite get his character right either though as I did not find him inept in the slightest. He’s actually quite a competent character and I was waiting for him to have a bunch of slip ups but they never came - to his credit.

In general, the entire story delivers far more than the synopsis promises. I found myself turning the pages quicker and quicker because I loved how things were unfolding and how the story was setting up for things so much bigger than I could have expected. There were a few aspects that threw me a bit and had to wrap my head around as well as some elements that seemed a bit too convenient, but I knew immediately that I didn’t care and just wanted more haha.

I can easily see why this book has been on so many Top Books lists and cannot wait for The Brass Queen: Grand Tour which is supposed to come out in 2022!

Set in Victorian England with a bit of steampunk-ish type vibe. Didn't really get much beyond the surface for anything- not enough character development or maybe too much going on made it only okay. Didn't really feel the characters, especially Constance, were consistent in that she is an agent of chaos with very naive thinking due to her sheltered life, but also runs a very profitable blackmarket arms dealership? I liked the core group of characters and the general plot, but needed more editing for me.

This steampunk fantasy romance was an incredibly entertaining delight from beginning to end.
It's a historical romance dressed up in some very bizarre and creative steampunk fantasy elements that are introduced as if they were the most logical and normal thing possible. It's also an alternate history story where the reign of Queen Victoria is in part possible thanks to fantastic machinery, giant robots, and airships. There is so much going on in this story that I'm amazed at how well Chatsworth manages to weave everything together into such a cohesive and entertaining read.
Every character is just the right amount of quirky to be both believable and entertaining, and the story takes off running and never lets up. Constance and Trusdale make a great foil for each other and seeing them banter and interact - particularly Constance's constantly making Trusdale want to rip out his hair - is what made this book so much fun.
Narrator Michelle Babb does a wonderful job giving each character a very distinctive accent and way of speaking so that you know exactly who's saying what at every moment. She also gives life to the characters so that you laugh, worry, and are amazed right along with them.
Overall, I'm amazed that this book hasn't gotten more hype because it perfectly hits every point I look for in both a historical romance and a good steampunk fantasy with delightful tongue-in-cheek humor that kept me glued to the story.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and CamCat Books for the entertaining read!
