This wasn't too bad of a little book! I really enjoyed the build-up and the first two-thirds of the book, although the ending was kind of disappointing with how abrupt it was... I'm hoping the other books will expand on the ending perhaps. The imagery of young kids getting pulled into alien tripods was definitely very jarring, so hopefully there's more of that. Beyond the disappointingly abrupt ending, I also found it a bit hard to settle on the main characters being just thirteen-year-olds essentially... I kept aging them up mentally to at least sixteen.
