This was my first horror book and I was not a fan. I was surprised how much the book was about the drama regarding the main characters than the actual shark. I haven’t seen the film but I’m interested to see how it compares to the book.

jaws is one of my favorite movies of all time but i had to dnf this book (idc i'm counting this as read)...the crazy use of the f slur...the graphic rape fantasy (????????) actually insane

The verdict is in I much prefer the movie. From now I’ll know to say the movie is very loosely based on the novel. None of the characters were particularly likable and the one I did like dies. Definitely more detail went into the relationships, unfortunately not for the better. Also, not enough shark, surprising all things considered. Three stars solely for the shark.

Expected something different. A good quick read. Preferred the film and wanted more from the captain. Overall a worthwhile read.

I had a lot of fun with this! The first and third acts are shark hunting. The second act is a fever dream soap opera. It was strange, but fun.

WHY IS IT WORSE THAN THE MOVIE??

the first chapter? Amazing. Some inaccuracies but I was aware of that. Then not even 2 chapters in and we get the f-slur. Did not enjoy most of the book.

It was interesting to read and compare to the movie. I'm really happy with how they decided to do the movie.
