I love everything John O'Donohue wrote and spoke about and this book of wisdom is deeply comforting at anytime but especially in this strange and hard year. This is a book you want to have in hard copy and read with a pen in hand to underline and take notes on almost every page.

John O'Donohue writes a host of reflections on the many seasons and experiences that life gives us. There is a bit of repetition, but overall a beautiful piece of writing and philosophy. O'Donohue speaks mostly to Celtic spiritualism, but does not hesitate to draw on mythology from cultures around the world. The result is age-old wisdom stirred with O'Donohue's own unique views of the world.

I very rarely come across a person whose voice and words touch me so profoundly. I have no sensible way of describing what this book or author mean to me. I would recommend listening to John O'Donohue on the 'On Being' podcast.

A beautiful book of wisdom, covering a variety of topics from friendships to work to death. Every page in my copy is heavily underlined.

What I found unique about the book was the practicality of the subjects covered. O'Donohue covers work, death and the body, which are often sidelined in other spiritual works. It's a straight-forward, accessible and inspirational read. Celtic poetry is used throughout the book to illustrate spiritual principles.

I am so grateful for my dear friend, a true anam cara, for gifting me this book when I needed it most. This book is such a beautiful display of Celtic wisdom, Irish lore, philosophy, and remnants of guidance and thought from various other religions, poets, and deep-thinkers. I was surprised to find that the book not only talked about the beauty of friendships, love, and connectedness-- but also topics like finding your life's purpose, loving your work, and learning to embrace death when it (inevitably) comes. Beautiful read.
