Warrior Cats - Vision von Schatten. Die Mission des Schülers: Staffel VI, Band 1 by Erin Hunter

A strong opening for a weaker arc, unfortunately.

I've been reading these books since I was 10 and I've always believed that The Last Hope (read that years ago) should have been the last book. SkyClan should have come in during the Power of Three Arc and the final battle being between the Dark Forest and all of the Clans, but that didn't happen, so we now have another arc in the Warriors series. I love the original characters, but I feel like Firestar is going to start appearing in these books like some sort of fan service (think of Percy Jackson showing up in Trials of Apollo and Magnus Chase when he shouldn't have). I haven't cried over a fictional character since 2013, but I cried when Sandstorm died. Honestly, I'm going to read the series just so I can feel like I've accomplished something in the middle of the pandemic and for closure since these books have been a part of my life for a while (even though I haven't read them since 2013).

I got into these books to share with my (then) 13 year old son and got hooked. Beats Harry Potter hands down so if you're going to read Young adult or your young teenager is looking for something to read, I suggest these.

Finally making my way through this arc and I enjoyed it a lot. The first book starts off strong. I loved all the protagonists but I especially loved Alderheart since I could really relate to his anxiety. It's another questing/travelling book but it isn't too bad. We get two pretty emotional deaths in this book - I loved that Sandstorm died on a journey instead of dying between books or of some illness or the other. Mistfeather's death was also gut wrenchingly sad. The ending though - this book truly made me hate Rowanstar and Bramblestar for separating the two kits - like they just lost their mother, they only had each other but they still separate them then the clan mistreats them by isolating them since they are outsiders- they were all so crappy including some of the characters I didn't expect that kind of behavior from.

I loved this book and I was actually surprised by how good it was, before I read it I thought it wasn't that good but it turns out it was!

While myself, along with a lot of the fans at the time the original series came out, didn't really want this book. Dawn of the Clans, okay. But anything after Omen of the Stars sans a few special editions? Not really.
But I feel like this series is showing promise. The way the plot is leading sounds interesting. But this book was kind of boring. There was some great scenes and whichever Erin wrote the violence in this book nailed the dramatics. It was just slow on the interim.
As for the new characters, I like Needlepaw. Alderpaw I'm pretty meh on and I cannot decide whether I'm neutral on or dislike Sparkpaw.
