This book reminds me of an epic poem. Every line is carefully crafted to convey such raw pain, beauty, horrors, and love.
This book was recommended to me so I didn't fully know what I was getting into. The story has supernatural elements that act as a coping mechanism for the main character.
I would highly recommend this book.

I struggled to follow some of the magical realism at times, but this is a hauntingly well-written book.

The first sentence of the book description is exactly what Let Us Descend is; “a reimagining of American slavery, as beautifully rendered as it is heart-wrenching”. It reads as a poem and a puzzle, almost, connecting all the dots. It’s a deep think read.

Update after  week of reflection: it truly is a story of self-liberation in all its forms. Beautiful.
