this was hard to rate because i liked it and loved the characters but its inconsistent and the timeline is sooooooo slow. literally 4 years of slowness. for sloane being an intricate serial killer who is apparently smart enough to not be caught, she lacks a TON of skill and observational awareness. the whole beginning builds this hyper vigilant woman but none of that prowess is applied?? there’s random, out of characters details that are mentioned and you think they’ll be important, but they’re never talked about again. the whole epilogue doesn’t fit. the whole first half could’ve been avoided with a simple “i like you” something children say but these two grown serial killers couldn’t? alriiiiiight. now in hindsight, this book is a mess lol all that being said, it’s a likable, cute read. rowan is a true yearner which i love

there’s only a few hook up scenes and 95% of the book is spiceless, but what is written is pretty detailed. 🌶️ 3/5

Gory erotica, but with a whole lot of light-hearted storyline would be how I'd describe this masterpiece. Two serial killers falling in love, what can go wrong? I loved reading about Rowan and Sloane and all of their not so typical "adventures." So excited to read the rest of the series!

I really liked this - especially the audiobook version, it was narrated well. While weird I liked the relationships and the overall tropes. The banter was cute, the additional characters were great and I will never eat a beef nicoise salad.

My god, the hold this book had on me! I’m not sure what it says about me that some of my only 5 star reads have been dark romances, and both of Brynn Weaver’s books in this trilogy so far are on this list.

First of all, where can I find a Rowan Kane of my own because hot damn, any golden retriever of a man that falls hard, fast and would kill for you is a keeper!

The banter between Rowan and Sloane is just so friggin funny and
despite the trigger warning and everyone else being so grossed out by the semen ice cream, I was somehow less shocked after he had just eaten a piece of human ass… ???

Once again, I have to INSIST you listen to the audiobook version of this one. It is a literal masterpiece and I looked like a straight up psychopath walking my dog and giggling like a school girl to this book. And the way I did a happy wiggle when I heard Rowan say “feckin’ eegit” (I listened to Leather and Lark first) must have made me look truly insane.

Seriously - do yourself a favour and pick this one up. Listen to the audiobook and friggin DIE when
Sloane (Lucy) and Rowan (Joe) finally get together and have the most spicy bathtub scene everrrrr - god the passion!

İ didn't go into this expecting anything good, it was released in the peak of slop romance novels that were just pushed on social media as easy reads with no substance but I disagree!
To take a fanfic term: I think that this is P WITH P, the dark comedy really coming in clutch alongside the well thought out plot and characterisation of Butcher and Blackbird making it a very fun read, which I feel as if I've been missing from my neverending rotation of books!

Highly recommend Reader should read the 2 pages of warnings before beginning, it's at the front of the novel and easy to find

Good read for fans of horror, extreme violence, anti-heros, slasher novels, psychopaths, sociopaths, serial killers, dark romance stories of vengeance, torture, light BDSM, smut, rough sex, sprinkled with wit and dark humour.

Reads like a Christmas Hallmark movie for violent  serial killers/ psychopaths/ sociopaths
