Gond artist, Subhash Vyam, uses his traditional art form and the traditional form of oral story telling to recite this cautionary tale of how the earth can support our need, but not our greed. It is a story familiar to all of us, but one which we choose to ignore because to acknowledge the issue would mean having to address it, and that we do not want to do. I particularly loved how he varied his colour palette- switching from shades of blue to shades of brown and olive green-  to suit the mood of the episode he was depicting. I wish everyone a copy of this book could be there in every school library, so at least children grow up knowing that we need nature more than nature needs us.
