This absolutely blew any expectations I went into it with. I imagined mostly a ridiculous romp, but On A Lee Shore captured me almost immediately. The writing was strong, as was Kit's voice, and despite the number of secondary characters I had little to no trouble keeping track of everyone. The crew of the Africa were lovable (not counting the obvious villains), although I'd have killed to see some women aboard the ship. Or women in general. The tension—romantic and not—between Kit and Griffin made their conversations complicated in a good way, and while I liked Griffin, I never fully felt I had a grasp of his character, especially with how rapidly Gregory wrapped things up in the final chapter. Pretty stinkin' fun!
