This one just wasn’t for me. I really liked the setting of a new Wild West where wild monsters roam and humans live in small settlements where the only law is you get to keep what you kill. Our trio decided to come take their chances after Alex our MC’s wife had cancer that left them basically bankrupt in the “real world”. With fears of it coming back they are chasing the rumors that if someone kills a dungeon lord they will gain unimaginable powers.
One thing that really bothered me was that when Alex was finally healed she said I’m whole again meaning her hysterectomy was reversed/regrown so they can have children. I don’t know saying a woman who can’t have children aren’t whole really bothers me. Having children isn’t the only way to have your only female character feel “whole”. She could have been a badass character who had a hysterectomy and beat cancer but it feels like she is just put into that walking uterus category. And obviously she is going to get pregnant in a future book and not be relevant to the plot (that is just speculation and could be unfair but I’m a bit annoyed right now)
Graphic: Gun violence and Violence
Moderate: Cancer
