While it lacks the novelty of the first volumes, this was still fun and even somewhat educational. I just miss my favourite pairings a bit, but overall Hetalia is a really nice read - perfect when you want a "snack". I'm really grateful Tokyopop is releasing this here. And I have to say, unlike with other Tokypop editions, I like the editing and the lettering here.

I only read the scanlated version, and it's still a looooong way before it could be published in Indonesia...
But I love it anyway, so I thought I'd share about it in GR :D

Hetalia Axis Power

Once upon a time, there was a great empire called Rome, but one day he disappeared, no one knows his whereabouts. Rome left behind his grandchild, Italy.

The beginning of WW 1...
Germany prepared to attack Italy. Knowing that he is the heir of Roman Empire, Germany was being very careful. To his surprise, Italy waves the white flag as soon as he saw him.
Italy is really useless... (Actually, that's where the title comes from, Hetare (useless) + Italy = Hetalia)
When the war is over, Germany kick Italy back to his penisula pronto...

World War 2 (I give up, I'll take some of the sentence from the web)
Italy undauntedly joined the Axis but without thinking anything.
It ended up wasting 10 more days to actually get ready. Italy approved to be really useless so Germany have to help him anytime...
Italy's invasion of Egypt ended up having a 1-in-4 casualty rate, and the very busy Germany ended up having to intervene. Oh, Italy.

While Germany subsisted on boiled potatoes, Italy ate a full-course meal regardless of what mortar's in the air at the moment, or so the legend goes.
Germany considered to stop helping Italy, but sadly, he has no other friend...

Hetalia is a new way to picture (or if you want, to study) the World History. Each nations is personified with their special characteristic. Italy loves art, women, and pasta. Germany has Aryan appearance, tall, blond hair, and blue eyes. USA has the same eyes and hair color but he is taller and louder, always trying to be a hero, often caught eating hamburger and drinking coffee or soda. England (being his former mentor) always scold him for using the wrong grammar and giving bizarre ideas in every world meeting.

The creator is really serious with his research, he make each nations height based from the real average height survey. Thus, we know that average French is taller than English, but he's no taller than American. From this series I also learned some trivial knowledge, like what's England's national flower, or how an American soldier broke his leg because he's too happy they got ice cream for dessert.

Another quote:
In the war, Italian tanks took one week to reach a target 60 kilometers away, but once they saw English troops, retreated the same distance in one day! :D

small warning:
-most of the Nation are 'man', so their interaction is a bit 'gay' :p
-Himaruya wrote it with no ill-intention, so don't be offended with the stereotypes!

I think it's legal because this manga originally comes from free web-stripes comic ^^

This was my first ever manga book and I absolutely loved it! It was so funny to see countries involved in WWII portrayed as single individuals. The character interactions and portrayals were on point and hilarious! I can't wait for volume 2!

This one was fun to read but not as funny as the first two. I still enjoyed it!

Hetalia is a funny manga about a personified versions of all the countries. It is a little educational too, but not in a pushy way that would make it cheesy!
SpoilerHowever just a warning but France is a little.... feminine :P
But I would suggest it to anyone looking for something to read/watch!
