The best thing I can say about this book is it sounds exactly like one would expect something coming from a Duggar family member to sound. I read this book and know one of the daughters wrote it, but I can hear their mother in my head. Between the lyrical pace, the soft voice. There’s a way where they give the title of a concept like love, do a mini four line poem that rhymes and has a cadence, then a rhyming statement that flows through over half the book. Then you get to the end. Very much about God‘s light and shining and be everything you need to be for Jesus. So I may not have been able to say what sister wrote this, but I would be able to tell you a Dugger wrote it. As for the illustrations, they are fantastic and very diverse.

Upon seeing the topic of the book, I approached reading it with a sense of excitement and I was not disappointed! You Can Shine So Bright is a delightful and inspirational picture book. It is based on verses from the Bible called fruits of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.

- Galatians 5:22-23 (CEB)

The same way fruits grow on a tree or vine and become ripe enough to be picked, eaten and enjoyed, it's the same way we become palatable to God and others when we try to grow in His will by doing and being what He says we can be.

Because we have a relationship with Him, through the Holy Spirit we can exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. Throughout the book, the authors give examples of ways children can practice each of the seven fruits.

The pictures are bright and imbues a sense of happiness on sight. Various ethnicities are represented demonstrating that the offer to become like Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit is available to everyone.

This book also goes into the pile of books for my grandson! Every parent should have a copy in their arsenal to teach their child about what kind of behavior God expects from His children, even the littlest ones.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I wrote this review voluntarily.

This beautifully illustrated children's book is lovely for teaching our children about the fruits of the Spirit. With real life examples, this easy-to-read book is simple for all ages to understand. It is written in lovely rhymes that can even be memorized and sung.

One of the most convicting parts of Scripture for me is this very one from Galatians. To have a children's book to help our little ones understand how we are to behave as Christians is essential to being followers of Jesus. I would recommend this sweet book for all with young babies and growing toddlers, longing to raise tiny disciples. 4/5 stars!

P.S. For those saying this book is racist, I did not see that at all. There are various scenes of children of color doing good things, and not just stealing. The example of stealing is an example of self-control, which all of us should learn to implement in our lives.
