The blurb and description describes a completely different book!! This book's focus is on war, with heavy scenes focusing on battle. They can be very intense. If I had known this I would not have read it. The ending is also (if you were expecting a romance) infuriating!!!

Interesting novella in translation about a member of a space fleet writing to his beloved as the work he does gets more and more complicated. This was a short, sweet read, but definitely one I probably wouldn't have found without the library.

I expected to see more romance in the book after reading the blurb summary at the front. Actually there was very little romance. I often forgot entirely that the story was supposed to be read as a series of love letters. At times I got bogged down in the technical explanations of spacecraft and battle techniques. But I could see how that part would be really interesting if it’s your thing. Over all it was an easy read and the last 40 pages or so really picked up and sucked me in. I’d recommend if you’re into sci-fi already but also if your looking to dip your toe into the genre because the sci-fi stuff was relatively simple.

This book is described as a space opera romance set against the backdrop of a looming colossal war between Earth and a mysterious adversary, a story of love unfolds through a series of intimate letter.
However now having read it, there is barely any romance or love story in it. The book feels more like it’s written like a personal diary or journal than letters to a loved one. That being said I did quite like this book and the basis of the story. You don’t really get to know the characters very well to bond with them. It got a little confusing at points and there was a lot of war tactics, technical details and parts that went on an overly descriptive pages. I gave this 3 stars overall and would recommend if your into war and sci fi books!

The physics behind space travel is beyond me, but I assume the explanations in the book are all accurate? It was an interesting story. The writing style is direct and simple, but kind of charming. I added .5 to the rating because the cover is so pretty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ll admit I was struggling to get through the first half of this book - and considering how short it is, I considered that a pretty bad sign of things to come. However I think it improved massively by the end, and the final 2 chapters did some very heavy lifting.
Based on the blurb, I was expecting a lot more romance but it was barely there at all. I felt the book kept me at a distance (not sure if that was deliberate or not) but it meant I had no emotional stake in the story sadly.
If nothing else, this book was very creative and was absolutely able to hold my attention, which is quite difficult atm!
