I've always liked Savannah, though when I found out she'd be narrating the next 3 books I though, eh...ok.
This book took me totally by surprise. I love Clay and Elena and Elena's books will forever be my favorites and most anticipated, but I really didn't expect to get drawn into Savannah's story as quickly and completely as I did. The story is fast paced, and I now love the character Savannah has turned into.
I'm already looking forward to her next book to see where the story goes and of course to see what happens between Savannah and Adam.

It was very brain candy like; interesting enough; didn't really need to read the rest of the series which I was glad of since I was just looking for a book with magic for my 2015 reading challenge. The ending was super disappointing; just ended (presumably to leave room for book 12)
I liked the story, but it seemed like a new character, not quite what I was expecting.
We! Are! Getting! Savannah! POV! I was really hyped for the book. Look, we meet this girl in book 2, and ever since she seems to somehow be in the middle of things, so it was thrilling to see her journey and now hopefully get to uncover what her role is in things.
I have to say, at first we were getting a proper whodunnit. A serial murder, a small town where people are suspicious of strangers, heck yes. Savannah tries to deal with stuff, things get complicated, and then twists come that I did not see coming and we kinda learn whodunnit, kinda not. Around up until that point, this book scores all the cookie points with me. Then it goes downhill.
I was incredibly disappointed about who was behind everything, really. 1. This trusted-person-betrays card has been played several times, even in Broken, and was just lame 2. Bringing back this particular enemy was so boring. And she talks. A lot. You can chalk it up to this particular character liking to lip off, but just reciting her evil master plan like in a Z-category superhero movie really gave me the icks.
And then it took an even steeper turn down towards the very end. During the last... 3 pages of the book, there's suddenly a ton crammed in, with an intendedly major plot twist and cliffhanger at the end. To me, it just felt rushed. Ever since the reveal of Big Bad Enemy it felt like deadlines suddenly crept up to the author and she just threw in whatever came to mind.
I love Savannah, I love the world, and overall, I did love the story. But I wish the second part of the book was constructed with as much wit, care, and detail, as the first half, which is why it stuck on 3 stars for me.

I love Savannah! This was a really good book, fast moving and suspenseful. Can't wait for the next one.
I thought this was a good book...not great, but a good one. The storyline was interesting and I like Savannah and Adam. My first complaints is that the villain was a little obvious...I could see it coming very early in the book...not the exact details but who the body of the villain was.
My other complaint is the cliffhanger ending. The otherworld series is built on stand alone books. Sure they build off each other, but the basis of the series is that you will have an Elena story, a Hope story, a Jamie story, a Savannah story, etc. and they will begin and end in that book. We will know their history and back story from other books in the history but the mystery of the book will be contained in that book. I don't like that we have to wait for the next book to find out how this one ends. I always liked how Armstrong didn't fall into the cliffhanger trap, but now she has. I know it shouldn't cloud my enjoyment of the book but it kind of did.

Couldn't wait to finish it (stayed up WAY too late reading it the last 3 nights) and then didn't want it to end. And now how long do I have to wait for the next one?! Whatever the timeframe, it'll be too long!! Kelley Armstrong is one amazing writer!
I loved Savannah finally getting her own story, don’t get me wrong.
But I also thought this story was a little weak for her. She is one of the strongest women written in this series. Ever since she was a kid she gave no craps about anyone and will do whatever the hell she wants to do because that is what she wants to do.

I understand that she has grown up and everything like that, but that kind of spunk doesn’t just die.
What I am happy about, is that her story isn’t done. If I am correct, the next books are all hers. It kind of feels like an actual series because we were left with a cliff hanger and it continues on; very unlike the rest of the series where we get closure for the narrator at the time.
I am not going to go into the actual story besides saying that girls were murdered, there might be some supernatural-ness behind it, Savannah investigates it all by herself (first case of her own), there’s a commune of young girls who bake cookies, and Savannah sees her past self in a young, spunky school-aged girl.
Needless today, I was a little sad but a little happy with the aspect of a story that covers three books.

HOLY CRAP THE BIG BAD HERSELF IS BACK. AHHH. This is the first book in this series that ended on a cliffhanger and I'm not happy about it.

Continuing the Women of the Otherworld series is such a treat.
In Waking the Witch, we FINALLY get to have Savannah front and center. From her days as a child, we've seen Savannah grow up on the periphery to Jamie, Paige, Lucas, and Eve. It's so nice to finally see her get her own story.
A definite coming of age story with a mystery twist to figure out "whodunit." The only part I didn't like was the very end.. it seemed to break with the mythos of the paranormal and the rules that Armstrong had set up for herself.
