diffendale's review against another edition
An extremely important topic handled rather less than deftly. This is the sort of writing for which 'turgid' was borrowed into the English language. The effects of racial prejudices—inculcated in TR by his upbringing, education, and communication with others of his ilk—on American foreign policy in the opening years of the twentieth century deserves a better book than this.
