If they taught history the way this book is written more people would enjoy history.

It is well written and he makes it easy to follow, since there are a lot of people. It will say something like "remember he was the one sitting on the flagpole."

I enjoyed it thoroughly!

I like Bryson’s writing. He can spin a yarn. Even more impressive when dealing with facts and history. To take the raw data and make it sing. Nicely done. Amazing how history does have a tendency to repeat itself.

Bill Bryson's a completely reliable author. No matter the subject, you know it'll be solid and entertaining. I'm wondering if this should be a five-star review. Let's call it four and a half stars.

I still had a hundred pages to go, but it had to go back to the library. It was interesting, but I tend to prefer fiction.

A very entertaining listen (audiobook).

This book does prove that corrupt politicians, celebrity criminals, and idolised idiots are not new phenomenons, but were around a hundred years ago.
