A lush and gorgeous Gothic setting! Look at that cover; I am happy to have this book on my shelf! I had high hopes for this book overall, but the plot itself did not grab me unfortunately and felt long-winded/repetitive. Rowan, Arien, and Clover were enjoyable characters but I couldn’t connect with Leta. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best either. The Lord Under is a very interesting character, very Hades-like, so I am very curious as to how the next book will be. 3 stars!

If you are looking for a dark, Gothic, haunted romance, look no further! "Lakesedge" is incredibly atmospheric, with fantastic characters and a plot that keeps twisting and turning! Perfect for anyone who loved "The Cruel Prince", ACOTAR, or "These Violent Delights"!

I can see how this would be appealing to fans of Naomi Novik and Brigid Kemmerer, but this didn’t live up to them for me. There were great threads of story here, but they didn’t make anything unique or captivating, and the writing didn’t stand out. Meh *shrugs*

Thank you, Edelweiss, for the ARC.

Solid read, interesting characters, and now I have to wait until next year for the second book.

Why do I do this to myself?!?!

I really liked the aesthetic of the book and the overall feel - very gothic and dark, yet so intriguing. I think the idea is really creative, especially with the alchemical aspects and powers. The main character had me reeling at times because of how stubborn and set in her beliefs she could be. The ending left me with more questions and there were some things unaddressed, so I'm hoping to get the sequel (which I just found out about).
Rowan was truly a sweetheart, but also stubborn at times. I think this relationship between the characters adds to how interesting the story is.

This book started off good and definitely had potential, then it kind of just went downhill.
There were so many things that should’ve been explained better or just explained in general, but weren’t.
Also not going to lie Violeta got on my nerves so much that I think it lost a star just because of that reason alone

Okay is it just me or was the Lord Under like… sexy?
