This is one of those books that I finished and literally just had to sit and stare at the wall for a good second. Not quite sure how to feel? It made me incredibly uncomfortable, but simultaneously made me think. The cringe moments were intense, but I couldn’t put it down.

I do love when a book makes me feel physically uncomfortable reading it from the bad decisions the main character is making

I adored "Leave the World Behind" but this unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. The ending was ultra cringe, omg.

The reader who picks up this book expecting an experience similar to Alam's Leave the World Behind will not find it here. There are similarities in the writing style, but that's where it ends. This book is horrifying for different reasons. Alam is so good at writing scenes that make readers cringe, and this one gave me the ick because of the path the protagonist, Brooke, goes down. Fabulous.
