I am guaranteed of a giggle when reading this series and its been a few months since I read the last. Betsy is unashamedly narcassitic and shallow but Davidson manages to make that amusing rather than wearing. I enjoy the snark and silliness. Just pure entertainment.

Again, a fun read, but could I remember the title after I had finished? No.

I absolutely hate the main character. She's completely stupid, high maintenance, overly dramatic, and swears so frequently it seems like she's spent time in prison or the military. No redeemable characteristics. Now, this has been pretty consistent through the, what five?, books of this series I've read, and with some YA books I kept at it hoping the main character would dig their head out of their butt and manage to grow a brain. But it hasn't happened with this series yet. And for some reason, a hot mature dude is head over heels in love with her? Wow. I've been hanging in there because while I really haven't liked the main character, I'm curious to see where it goes and what happens to the other characters. Now I just don't care. I haven't read a more whiny character since I learned to read. I would say "unpopular" all right.

This fifth book in the Betsy, queen of the vampires, series is the weakest yet. It's a fast read and has a few fun moments, but nothing much happens and there are loose ends and random incidents galore. It's more like a collection of soap opera episodes than a novel. Betsy was lisping again and being dense, and I wish she'd just grow up already. She doesn't seem to have learned much at all in the year since she died; why is she not studying how to be a better vampire? She's not even attentive to little non-vamp things, like the difference between knitting and crochet. It annoyed me in the last book when she confused the two; I'd hoped she'd have at least learned that tiny thing by now, especially since her best friend knits (or maybe crochets--it's first person narration so because Betsy doesn't know, I don't know). Worst of all, there aren't even any hot love scenes to distract me from how maddening Betsy is.

I was a little disappointed with this installment in the series. The editing wasn't as good, and I found myself saying -- "Didn't they just say the complete opposite back a couple pages" -- and I was right.

It didn't flow as well as I wanted it to, and the story line was dull. They got a good story line going (with Alonzo), and then cut it off -- would have liked to see more of him.

Rather than post what would probably come across as a rant (and possibly get my review deleted...), let me just say: This book is just incredibly not my thing. If this sort of thing is your thing, then more power to you and you'll probably love it. I just can't.

I'll be posting my complete reaction on my blog.

While not the greatest installment of the series, I enjoyed another sarcastically humorous trip into the world of Betsy, Queen of the Vampires.
