So much drama, but I don’t really like any of the characters.

This sequel was EVERYTHING I loved about the first book, but MORE. More tension, more feeling the characters broken and raw and dancing on the edge of their secrets. The story arc grew just enough to keep me involved but still leave me feeling like there are so many threads of potential left to be unraveled.

Katharine McGee is so good at bringing humanity into her characters. often times with a cast this big I lose track or care about one or two characters more than others but God my protective love for these kids is so real. She makes me feel utterly wrecked with grief that I can't reach into the pages and fix things for them.

I'm so ready for book 3, lemme just go repurchase a thousand tissues.

I've really been enjoying this series and entering this immersive, fascinating world. The characters are becoming more likable and while there isn't much depth in the story, I couldn't put it down.

Decent sequel. Skimmed parts of it, but was interested in the story. Will put myself on hold for the last book in the series. Upper YA.

i thought this was a duology so in the last 50 pages i was like...this better NOT be a duology and boy am i hyped for the last installment!! this series is fantastic and i am obssesed with the characters and i love how much they have evolved in this book in comparison with the first one. i love it. i love it. i love it.

Esta bueno pero tiene la misma estructura q el primero, hubo una parte q se hizo media pesada y me gustó más el final del primer libro pero me quiero leer el 3

Ughhh this book was pretty much the same as the first, which I actually enjoyed, except it went nowhere. The relationships between the characters were incredibly dull and repetitive. I don't recommend this one, even if you enjoyed the first. No third book for me.

I thought this book was an intriguing sequel but I was expecting maybe something... more? Starting with Mariel was promising but I was hoping for more of her rather than just seeing her pop up at the end. Especially since she seemed to know so much about Leda at the end but it was only alluded to that she checked the feeds.

At first I hated Leda but I slowly started to appreciate her? Kind of like Watt did throughout the story. I’m not sure she’s fully redeemable but we’ll see in the next book.

As for Avery I still dislike her. She’s whiny and unappreciative. At least in the last novel she actually had some qualities but in this one all she cared about was Atlas to the point of annoyance. I was hoping for something with her but she doesn’t have a personality that doesn’t surround her genetics or Atlas and I hate when female characters only have their looks or a boy to aid their personality.

Watt is becoming more and more my favourite and Nadia is great and snarky I love the writing for them.

Ultimately I was just hoping for more out of this sequel but maybe I’ll get that in the next one.

I just learned it's a trilogy, which is good, because that ending...
I hope these characters who we are supposed to feel for end up redeeming themselves in the third act.
