read it for school and i liked it way more than i thought i would! the first half i found pretty slow and boring but the second half was really interesting and it’s a good social commentary on south africa + general experiences of racism in the past and present

Pretty good. Would read again. A father takes a journey in South Africa to find his son after he has left. Finds something that he didn't realize he needed.

A very slow read if you are unfamiliar with the rhetorical devices used in the book, and the subject matter of the South African Apartheid, however it is beautifully written and informative while also staying in the presence of the characters.
Moderate: Racism, Sexism, Xenophobia, Murder, and Abandonment
