Victoria killlllllled it with this one!!! I am so happy to be in Fiasco, KY. I absolutely adored Strutt's Peak so I was so excited to start this series.

I loved Grant and Laney so so much. He's a broody "cowboy", former cop and she's running and hiding from something that he wants nothing to do with buttttttt she's everywhere and just what he needs to open up his heart again. I swear every time they called each other Cowboy and Honey....oooooof, the spice and banter in this book was just top notch and I loved every minute of it. I'll admit romantic suspense is not always my jam but this one was done so well and it hit the spot.

I cannot wait for the rest of the series - I know I'm going to eat it up!

Read this if you love:
- Broody, closed off MMCs
- Romantic Suspense
- Top tier spice and banter
- Nicknames
- Bourbon play
- Smalltown setting
- Enemies to lovers

Romantic leads had good chemistry, and their relationship built at a steady, reasonable pace. I appreciated that the author didn't let their attraction override their character (ie jump into bed & confessions too soon)
I liked that there were some consequences to the characters actions, though there were also plenty of moments with cringey #girlboss moments that felt a bit forced.
I appreciated that once the characters got together they weren't just mindlessly having sex every chapter at expense of the plot.
Time moved a bit oddly, especially at the beginning of some chapters where we seemed to float back and forth. Additionally there were a few instances where it seemed we got pronouns/narrator confused for a second.
Overall pretty good, with a very interesting and original plot!

I was bored and forcing myself to read this book.

Laney needs to hide after she stops a murderer and is now on his radar. Agent Bea helps her hide in small town Fiasco in Ace Foxx’s ranch. Grant, Ace’s brother and ex cop, doesn’t want Laney to be here because he doesn’t want any kind of trouble and he can tell that she is lying about why she is in Fiasco.

The Foxx family is “cursed”. Any woman they love ends up dead. Grant was in love with his Boss’s daughter and fellow cop Fiona. On the day he told her he loved her, she ended up killed on a mission.

The attraction between Laney and Grant was superficial and unbelievable. The ending was rushed and not explained properly.

How did the murderer find Laney? Waz knew Laney was from New York but it was glossed over how he knew. The explanation we got was that he was shady so no surprise he knew.

I admit the plot twist of why Bea is hellbent on helping Laney was genius. But i was bored throughout the book.

Also, the dirty talk was cringy and icky to me. Grant is talking about her private parts as if they’re a human and he uses the pronoun “she” on her private parts. That disgusted me so much. “She must be so wet for me” ew
