Hot damn. Please send help, I’ve fallen for Grant Foxx and I can’t get up 🥵🥵

I ATE this book UP. This book was an entire five course meal, and every moment of it was finger-lickin’ good.

THE BANTER?!!!? THE SPICE?!!!? NO FUCKING NOTES.

It’s been a hot minute since I picked up a romantic suspense but GOD DAMNNN it didn’t disappoint!! (AND NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP?!?! My love language right there)

Anyway!!! This book was 5/5 stars and now let’s turn to Siri.

“Hey Siri, where can I get my very own bourbon cowboy, Grant Foxx?” because I’d like him STAT.

Honey & Cowboy

4.5/5 Stars
This is my first read by Victoria and lemme tell you, her books will be an automatic read for me. The banter, the tension, the chemistry!?! Top notch. So so good, I truly had such a great time reading this and I cannot wait for the Lincoln’s book. All of the characters in the story were so complex and strong, they truly complimented each other so well. The burn was oh so slow but it was truly worth it.

Laney is such a strong, fierce, no nonsense type FMC and didn’t shy away from what she wanted and also said what was on her mind. And Grant was so tough and rough on the exterior but was so gentle with the people he loves and cares about. Getting to see their relationship grow while they both helped one another heal from their past was simply amazing. PLUS HE PAINTS HER NAILS for her?! Doesn’t get much better than that!

Tropes:
- Found family
- Strangers to lovers
- Romantic suspense
- Small town romance
- Hidden identity
- Grumpy x sunshine

fun concept but the execution was a lil off! I loved grant like he’s a textbook book bf but the pacing was inconsistent, wayyyy too much bourbon terminology, and the ending was anticlimactic

This book combined so many of my favorites - the mystery, the twists, the tension between our MCs that had me screaming "just go for it". I love a good romantic suspense and this one hit in all the right places.

Laney & Grant have some of the best flirty banter I've read. Their push & pull creates wonderful tension. Laney is a firecracker - she's feisty & dishes back out whatever is thrown at her. She's a perfect match for Grant the grump, who slowly comes out of his shell. There are such playful scenes (them dancing, her skinny dipping, etc) that break the tense themes.

This is a slow burn done is the best way. While a lot of the story is on Laney, their blossoming friendship highlights Grant's growth in letting someone else in. His story is endearing and really enjoyed his POV. Also, Laney's found friendship with Hadley is so fun. She's such a great side character and hope to see more of her story (maybe with a certain Foxx brother) in a future book.
