Romantic leads had good chemistry, and their relationship built at a steady, reasonable pace. I appreciated that the author didn't let their attraction override their character (ie jump into bed & confessions too soon)
I liked that there were some consequences to the characters actions, though there were also plenty of moments with cringey #girlboss moments that felt a bit forced.
I appreciated that once the characters got together they weren't just mindlessly having sex every chapter at expense of the plot.
Time moved a bit oddly, especially at the beginning of some chapters where we seemed to float back and forth. Additionally there were a few instances where it seemed we got pronouns/narrator confused for a second.
Overall pretty good, with a very interesting and original plot!

While I liked the characters and the storyline, there were a TON of issues with the writing style that made this really hard to get into. There were so many times I had to go back and read a couple of pages to make sure I understood what was happening, and even then, I found it wasn't clear. The tense also kept switching between past and present which is one of my biggest pet peeves in fiction.

That being said, I liked how everything tied together at the end, the chemistry between the leads was great, the Foxx family was a lot of fun, and I learned some neat things about bourbon!
