Hot garbage. Takes a great concept and ruins it, and it has weird pedophilia. Ends in an anti-climax, and Leiber has no idea how to write horror. It's in first person, and the tense parts are just the protagonist saying "I'm so scared... I felt a chill down my spine.. I kept running out of fear". Tell me why your scared! Please! Describe what's around you! Tell me what the city looks like! As much as I loathe to say it, what I thought it's concepts were going to be (it touches them oh so briefly) inspired me greatly, and has been a big influence on a novel I started to write and just general concepts I want to do things with. Hate that I would have to cite this garbage book as an influence, but oh well. 1.5 stars, don't read.

Liked it a ton right up until the end. Marred the proceedings.

Just ok. Maybe not quite a 3 but better than 2.5. Am I nitpicking? Yes.

A rather silly horror story, but it all takes place in my back yard (Corona Heights), so that earned it an extra star.

Could you write a less than 200 page horror book with a very interesting premise and make it boring as fuck and as pointless as a set of nipples on a bull? The answer is yes.
