I feel like the series really picks up at about this point. In earlier volumes, it seems scattered with the crossover with Tsubasa. Fortunately, the main cast does eventually stand on it’s own without the alternate world cast.

Another intriguing volume. It seems like there may be some other great power than Yuko, but less benevolent. I hope that gets expanded on, but the story's episodic nature seems interesting enough either way.

Really enjoying this series. I loved the fox spirit and the giant daffodils cracked me up.

"Los humanos no hacen nada por las cosas bellas del mundo. Entonces ¿Porque las cosas bellas deberían hacer algo por los humanos?". Aquí otra pequeña reflexión de cuánto daño de le estamos haciendo al planeta tierra y a las bellas cosas que en el viven, no creen?
Un tomo interesante, con un final más abierto que el de los tomos anteriores aunque no me gustó tanto como el tomo 4.

XxxHolic Volume 05 by CLAMP has three mini stories and one point of crossover with Tsubasa: Resreservoir Chronicle that hints at the arc plot. The ministories involve Watanuki helping a little girl who is lost, a quiet girl sprouting wings and the rescue of a mountain spirit, the Zashiki-Warashi.
Watanuki gets a little more character development through a flashback of his friendship with a boy who is also tied to the April Fool's Day. The boy helps Watanuki manage his spirit problem by showing him a few tricks. As the friendship develops it's clear that something is not quite right with either boy. In light of the arc plot, though, this flashback is both intriguing and somewhat troublesome.
For the arc plot, Syaoran and friends send something in exchange for the food sent to them by Mokona. Their tardiness in making the delivery has Yûko worried, though she pretends she's just fretting over White Day.
By this point in the series I was well and truly hooked, as was my son. We went from requesting one volume via interlibrary loan to two volumes.

CLAMP, xxxHolic vol. 5 (Del Rey, 2005)
There's something about the fifth volume of xxxHolic that seems to encourage lawlessness. My library's copies walked off, so I had to get it Interlibrary Loan, and the copy I received had a few pages that had been expertly sliced out. Go figure. CLAMP really seem to have gotten into this one in the past few episodes, as they follow up the twin-sister episode with some real crackers here. All the wackniess of the Valentine's Day hijinks in volume 4 come back to haunt Watanuki in spades (what does one give a girl who doesn't really exist on White Day?), while the episodic stories continue on as strong as they were in the last volume. Series is starting to get good. ***
