oh wow !!! bryan cranston, the genius that you are, this was a wonderful listen/read. i especially loved listening to this because he narrates. i think the title is absolutely perfect and i loved watching bryan as hal on malcolm in the middle when i was younger but i fell in love with his acting when i saw him on breaking bad, i absolutely love that show so much and it’s why i decided to listen to this but, this was so much more then breaking bad and i really enjoyed getting bits and parts of his life. highly recommend!!

3 1/2 stars if I could. I don’t love memoirs like I love good novels, but I enjoyed this one- especially listening to the author-narrated audio book. It was candid, touching at times, and he’s just damn likable. As someone interested in acting and a big fan of Breaking Bad, it was a good listen.

Didn’t know much about this actor, just remembered him from Malcom in the Middle. I had heard rave reviews about Breaking Bad, but it seemed too heavy for me. Intrigued that Hal could become Walter, but I knew this guy was super talented from his Malcom days, and was happy his talent was being appreciated.
But I LOVED his memoir! What an interesting life! And he seems like such a decent human being, even after a sucky childhood.
Favorite parts: when he talks about his love for his family. Also, hearing how hard he worked, even as a kid, heartbreaking and admirable. This guy’s success is hard earned and well deserved. The descriptions of his motorcycle road trip with his brother and his time as a chaplain officiating at weddings - unforgettable.
Highly recommended on audio, read my the author.

I enjoyed reading Cranston’s memoir about his life and his acting career. The story was well told, and even had me laughing out loud a few times. I would recommend this book to a friend.

An entertaining and delightful dive into the lives of one of my favorite actors. The highlights were definitely grouped towards the beginning, where Cranston explores his youth, his angsty teen years, and his first steps towards his now booming career. I listened to the audiobook, and his acting chops really shine through his narration and the life he brings to his words. It is his life, after all. A wonderful experience!
