This is a book for romantics, the philosophical and the genre ones (there's a joke there)!
From the beginning, all the way to the end, I found myself unable to put the book down. And when I needed to, it was simply to catch my breath, find my footing, and pick it up again.
I've never Dostoevsky, up to this point, but considering Lermontov had some role in his writings, this book makes me excited to see what he might have to offer.

There are two types of people: the ones who dislike Pechorin and all his thoughts and actions, thinking he's cruel and egoistic; and the ones who are in urgent need of therapy & do relate to him. I'm the second type. Read the warnings if you must and give it a chance. Remember it is a depiction of a time, and a hero of this time. He is a superfluous man. This is his downfall story.
