Lift is a very enjoyable character to read, and Wyndle acts as a good foil. The plot is very well designed to fit within the wider sort but allow its characters agency.

As always, there’s great world building and the surges are great fun. Plus some serious tension surrounding Darkness and
the Sleepless who shows up suddenly but fits
.

Cute little novella that adds some good character background but nothing that blew me away. I find Lift half amusing and half annoying.

Watching Wyndle get exasperated and lose his cool when Lift refers to him as a "Voidbringer" is the funniest thing

Lift is one of my favorites and I'm so glad she got her own novella.

To be honest, when Lift was first introduced in “Words of Radiance” I didn’t like her (I found her annoying, and dislike how the Interlude chapters in Stormlight can interrupt the pacing). I almost didn’t bother with Edgedancer when I realized she was the POV character.

I’m so glad I changed my mind. This was so incredibly fun, and Lift and Wyndle have both really grown on me now. I’m looking forward to seeing them come up again in the main Stormlight narrative.

I was hesitant before reading this as I saw many bad reviews of people who strongly disliked Lift. From what we saw of her in WoR I would have agreed that she simply wasn’t a likable character, which is okay as not all characters can or should be. But reading this novella changed my mind about her and I think if she is to become a major character like Sanderson said he intends her to be, then reading this is a great insight to who she is and who she will eventually become. We get see a part of her we didn’t see in WoR. Yes she has the same attitude and makes a lot of mistakes, but she is just a kid trying to find her way as a person and as a Radiant. I think that’s important for people to remember to really appreciate her character and not judge her too harshly. She is a kid, and will act like one. Overall I enjoyed reading about her, it was fun and I’m glad I didn’t skip this so I could fully appreciate the storm light archive and all its characters, even though it wasn’t necessary.

Lift is such a funny character and her interactions with Wyndle even more so.

As in other books in the Stormlight Archive saga, there are some wise moments. This time, coming from a 12-year-old.
