This story is basically a math lesson in disguise. It also shows that if you are an honest person and business person, all the red tape shouldn’t apply to you. Shows what happens when the motive behind rules get lost and the focus is on the rules.

It also shows in a kid friendly manner how discrimination can happen or be perceived and how to handle it when that happens.

This is a fun story!
Like The Pushcart War, it blends the fantastic with the plausible to make for a fun story where the little guy wins - and honesty and hard work shine through.

What a cool kid--the main character becomes a millionaire by making and selling toothpaste. He decides he wants to do something, and then he does it! Wat a great lesson for kids.

Rufus can't believe how much toothpaste costs, so he sets out to find a cheap formula of his own. Pretty soon, he has to get all of his friends to help package the toothpaste because everyone wants his brand.

Read aloud with the boys. Soren says he liked it because he learned a lot. I agree- entrepreneurship, taxes, stock options, price fixing, what more can you want??

I'd forgotten I'd read this book a long time ago until my brother asked me how I thought they make toothpaste. Suddenly, this book sprang back into my memory.
