Confinement: characters are trapped in a cave for several chapters, sometimes with no light. Kidnapping: the story revolves around one character being kidnapped with the main action being the characters that are on the rescue team. Suicide attempt: in the penuktimate chapter a villian attempts suicide with a knife. Animal cruelty: the characters read a journal describing a cat being experimented on with potions to make it larger.
