What did happen to the man of tomorrow? I liked the plot-twists in the graphic novel and can see that the authors intentionally crafted the narrative to avoid the usual tropes. I enjoyed this graphic novel thoroughly.

If you read this and think it's another throw away goofy superman comic then you are mistaken. I feel like what Alan Moore has done here is so subtly brilliant and such a love letter to the gold and silver age of superman. It feels so true to being a classic superman tale but reeks of moores reality and grimness but in a light hearted way befitting the man of steel. Superman is more who he is because of his ideals than of his powers. I wish more comic lovers understood this about their favorite characters.

This was a nice comic with a great ending. I don't know much about Superman and his various friends and enemies which certainly affected my overall understanding of the scope of how Moore closed off this run of Superman. But even without much of the knowledge the story is still readable and interesting, but probably shouldn't be one's first foray into Superman

A superb ending to the silver-age Superman. Moving, grand and beautiful. I never liked Superman as a kid. For some reason, Batman was just more appealing, dark and edgy (go figure, I was 16). But now, he may be one of my favorite characters (though this often depends on the creative team). The included Superman + Swamp Thing Annual and the other Superman Special with Mongul were just as good, and the "Heart's Desire" thorn plant was SO WELL DONE. During such a difficult time of tumult in America, it's nice to be reminded that Superman does no harm to anyone, that even the most powerful of creatures can be gentle and kind.

I'm not really a comic book reader, but since the ether is full of Superman knowledge, I, too, have absorbed some of it. The story of "what happened to the man of tomorrow" was really absorbing and well-told. Once I actually started reading more than the introduction to it, I didn't want to quit reading it. Wow.

A fun story, though not as transcendent as reviews would have had me believe. As a Superman fan, this type of story is very exciting for me, however, I did have to come to the realization that I'm a post-Crisis Superman fan, preferring the elements that came later to the character and his world.
What was really fun for me to read was the last story in this collection, which was "What Do You Get for the Man Who Has Everything?". I've already seen the Justice League Unlimited episode of this, but the comic added some real depth to story. Superman's pain of having to let go of the world he always wanted, and then his anger after doing so is really well done. I love seeing Superman cut loose and he does so to Mongul, an it's great to watch. Both of these stories really add to Superman's humanity. Recommended.

I went through all the emotions in this one, so four stars. I heard a lot of praise for this story so that might have ruined it a bit, but the story had me hooked and at times heartbroken.
