I did not care for this book at all. It is the second book following [b:27 Truths: Ava's Story|30369073|27 Truths Ava's Story (The Truth About Love, #1)|M.J. Fields|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1467914486s/30369073.jpg|50881491]. Find that review here https://prettymessreading.wordpress.com/2016/11/14/27-truthsavas-story-the-trust-about-love-1/
I felt upset and frustrated for 2/3 of the book. Luke is the worst. I can't remember the last time a book pissed me off like this.
I'm not going to do a full review but I will share one thing that killed it even more for me. The damn bastard took her kids at one point. I was done. If someone even tries to take my kids that will be the day they take their last breath.

This is the second book in the series and 27 Truths needs to be read first.
Deep down Luke Lane has always had feelings for Ava Links but due to his stubbornness he has pushed her away, not wanting her to wait for him while he is overseas as an Army Ranger in case something happens to him. Then one day it does.
Ava Links is dealing with the aftermath of her own emotional pain after the events in book 1 and is struggling to get through each day. Wanting to do everything herself she is barely hanging on, yet refuses to ask for help. When Luke shows up and refuses to leave until they talk things out, Ava is scared that she is going to lose Chance and Hope.
Can Ava and Luke put aside their own heartbreaks to concentrate on working together to do what is right? Will they be able to sort out how they truly feel about each other or is their too much hurt in the past that they will not be able to overcome?
This story was so much about forgiveness and getting through heartbreak to focus on the future. I couldn't imagine what Ava was going through yet at the same time I can with being a single parent. You never want to admit that you need help as it is a sign of weakness.
Ava had so much pain to deal with and trying to deal with Luke after he broke her heart was so hard for her. She was truly scared of what Luke would do as I think she really thought he hated her with how he had treated her before.
Luke had to grow up and deal with his injuries and then he needed to take care of Ava, even though she refused. He really grew up and it was good to start learning the truth about all of his actions.
I must say that I absolutely loved Piper in this book and the information she was able to convey was so perfect and needed. I loved the messages she gave Luke and Ava. My heart definitely burst and I hope there is more about her in a future book!
I also really loved Luke's book on 27 Lies with how open he was with Ava. It was definitely perfect and the honesty behind it was incredible!
Great series and I really hope the author writes more involving these characters!!

We all lie, we say things that allow us and others to believe we are okay with what is going on or has happened. In every relationship we have we lie… Its okay, I understand. I can handle it. I don't love you. We lie because we want to be happy, but in doing so are we really becoming happy or making ourselves more miserable? Until we can open our eyes and realize that these lies can destroy us. When confessing our lies, like Luke in this book sometimes they lead us to were we need to be and who we are meant to be with.
As usual MJ Fields has taken me to a place where I can feel again. These books (Legacy Series) have become a way to open my soul again. These characters have become family, allowing me to live a life through these books. 27 Lies is a wonderful ending to Luke and Ava’s story. Even though having to relive the emotions 27 Truths brought out, this stories ending is wonderful. The love that these characters have for each other is truly beyond words.
MJ please never stop writing, you have a true talent. Thank you for allowing me to feel again.

Once again to avoid giving any spoilers I can't really talk about this journey. Just know that this part of the journey is told mainly in Luke's POV and it gives ALL THE FEELS!! Everything I was missing in Ava's part of this family dynamic was given in this book. I appreciated the attention to detail when it came to weaving the military aspect into this book. The dynamic of Luke's journey about Ava's actions kept me on the edge of my seat to the point that I DEVOURED this book in one setting. I loved this duet and found closure once it ended.

I really liked this book. I certainly appreciated getting Luke's POV. As cold and unfeeling as he seemed in book 1, I loved getting his true perspective. He was incredibly deep as well as stubborn, honorable, protective and determined.
If you haven't read 27 Truths, STOP READING!! The rest of this review covers it.
I really wanted to love this book. I did. It almost got 5 stars. I loved how the author illustrated Ava's grief. Her loss was very realistic. Thomas was dead and she was still trying to come to terms with it. Like a lot of new mothers, she was running herself ragged trying to do it all. So yeah. She sometimes forgot to eat or bathe. Been there. Done that. And for a lawyer, she didn't use a whole lot of reason or logic. Her grief made her even more irrational and a tad crazy. All realistic. And I loved how her familly tried to be there for her. I loved how freaking awesomely Luke stepped up. Although Ava was set to become Mrs. Thomas Hardy, now that he's dead, she's got to figure out a life for herself and her twins without him. I loved all of this.
So why not 5 stars? I didn't like how T was almost demonized in this book. Not cool. Also the end was way too rushed for me. There was so much build up to Ava and Luke's second chance, yet when it came, it fell flat. It happened way too quickly and I failed to connect with it. I kept flipping through the pages, hoping and searching for more, and there wasn't any more. So that's why.
Once again, MJ Fields created a story about love and loss, hope and despair, and grabbing that second chance at love and at life.
