A very sweet look on friendship and family (mainly between women) in 1830s small-town England.

If I could describe this book in one word, it would be tender. Gaskell embues her characters with so much warmth and heart, it is difficult not to fall in love with every single one of them. Even when she is taking some hearty pot shots at the ridiculous pretensions of the impoverished aristocracy, as she is here, she does it with an infinite amount of gentleness and charm. You'll laugh, you'll cry, it's the kind of book that makes you want to shut yourself away from everybody and devour in one big cosy heap.

Made me feel like I was one of the women associated with this town, just receiving letters about the happenings and daily lives and silly gossip but also incredible kindness. I loved how intimate it felt, and how funny it was.

Cranford
Elizabeth Gaskell

Finished reading this but there is feeling that is telling me to stop and cherish whatever left now, delay as much as I can...from the very beginning when I put my hands on this book it have such warm, cozy feeling..reading about each character, their lifestyle, their society and more importantly the time period..just felt perfect...

I don't about others but I have the same feeling when I came back from mountains after spending a lovely time up there always knowing I can come back whenever I could yet a bit sad...

I was introduced to Gaskell by Gothic Tales randomly from Amazon...read some stories and I loved those..based on the stories I read by Elizabeth Gaskell I gott this one too...and again I loved it so so much..more than the Gothic Tales..

Honestly I had a very hard time following this book because it was an audio book I think maybe it would be better in print
